Become a Reading Center Tutor

Become part of our growing community of dedicated and talented individuals making a difference in the life of struggling readers by training to be an Academic Language Therapist (tutor).

Read quotes from some of our tutors sharing why they work with struggling readers!

Last year, The Reading Center tutored 183 students 1:1 in over 9,000 lessons. We tutor students age 7 to adult in the Orton-Gillingham approach. Our students come from all over the state and region. More than 1/3 meet with their tutor online and 16% receive a scholarship to make the help they receive more affordable.

We would love to talk to you about joining our team. Tutor as little or as much as you want!

Training Requirements

Reading Center tutors must have successfully taken our Basic Orton-Gillingham Training Institute (120 course with practicum), or its equivalency to work with elementary students, and our Advanced Orton-Gillingham Training Institute to work with middle and high school students to adult. No Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Tuition scholarship and reimbursements are available for those who wish to use their training to become a Reading Center tutor.
