Reading Center History

The Reading Center teaches struggling students to read using proven, direct instruction that has taught over 7,000 students.  We train adults in through the Basic and Advanced Institutes, and classroom teachers with classroom Infusion Training.

For 60 years, the Reading Center has been changing lives one lesson at a time. Paula Rome and Jean Osman are the founders of the Reading Center.  They co-authored the seminal, groundbreaking book in teaching dyslexic children to read that is still referenced today by the experts.

Paula Rome learned the Orton-Gillingham approach from her uncle, Dr. Paul Dozier, a neurologist and colleague of Dr. Samuel Orton.  Dr. Orton and Anna Gillingham, a groundbreaking educator developed the approach that has stood the test of time and has been supported by recent brain research.
